6th Grade Social Studies Curriculum
The focus of sixth grade social studies is Ancient Civilizations. Below are the units we will be studying.
Early Humans and Societies
Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Kush
Civilizations in India and China
The Hebrews and Judaism
Ancient Greece
Ancient Rome
Class Assignment Policy
Students are responsible for completion of unfinished class assignments. Missing or incomplete work will effect your child’s grade.
Missing Work and Absences
Students are responsible for all assignments and should find out what they are missing upon returning from an absence. I will accept late assignments but encourage the assignments to be turned in close to the due date to prevent accumulation and the feeling of being overwhelmed.
Homework
I usually do not assign homework for this class. However, students may need to study for a quiz or bring in an item for a project we are working on. Please check the agenda nightly.
Grading Policy (scaled/weighted)
Class Work (chapter questions, notebook, activities)..................................................40%
Mini-Projects.........................................................................................................35%
Quizzes.................................................................................................................25%
